Hey all, I have a ptr 91 and I was wondering what would be some good parts to have stocked. Any input is appreciated.

well, first of all do you know how to headspace a PTR91? learning how to do that, get the gauges to check the gap and replacement rollers and a size or two higher to adjust headspacing as the rifle wears out wouldnt be a bad idea

besides that, a new recoil spring, extractor spring and claw, firing pin, and spare drop in trigger pack should give you everything you need to handle ANY scenario with your rifle

the way i understand it with the HK is you want a 10-18k gap between the bolt head and the carrier, as the rollers or the wedge wears out this gap becomes smaller to the point where cartridges no longer feed because the headspacing is too small.. so to fix this you replace the rollers or the wedge to get back to a good headspace.. inspect your locking wedge, if it is not worn, dont worry about it or maybe pack a spare just in case

then id measure your gap between the carrier and bolt head from the magazine well using feeler gauges.. if youre on the low end of the 10-18 thousandths mark youre going to want to get larger rollers.. rollers are measured in +2, +4, etc which increases the gap i believe by that many thousands of an inch and install those to get the headspacing up to 12-16 thousandths of an inch (which is what id target) to give you more room and more time for wear.. then id buy a spare set of rollers of that size and a size or two larger to compensate for future wear

i could be wrong on some of this, im going mostly from memory.. seems tedius and a lot of work but id rather have to headspace an HK in a pinch than my mas 49/56 or an M1A

keep 2 sets of standard rollers, and 2 sets of oversize, couple of roller retainers, spring kit, extractor, firing pin. and a extra charging handle.

the only thing that's ever broken on my HK 93 is one of the wire retainers. keep a extra buffer as well(one that slides adjacent to your ejector port) if you plan on reloading. else it dings the brass on ejection

Okay another question my rifle has a target crown on it currently, how had would it be to thread it to a 5/8Ă—24 thread. So I can use the more common American threads, just doesn't seem like there's as many breaks, flash hiders for the metric. I'd like to get another vortex flash eliminator like I have on my savage.

You can find flash hiders, just not as many options. its a 15 X1 MM RHT on the H&K and clones, I use this Manticore Night brake, works real well on it.

call the manufacturers, Im sure for a price they would either sell you one in the white(unfinished), that you could have threaded, OR custom thread you one....

But check out www.robertrtg.com he's decent to deal with

In addition to the HK Parts previously posted, here is another great place to get parts:

I have enough spare parts to almost build another rifle or two but primarily rollers, an extra trigger pack (send one trigger pack to Bill Springfield and keep other one as a spare) but here is a good kit to have on hand:

Here is a link to Bill Springfield:

I love my PTR91A3R and have done some mods to it:
1. Heavy Buffer installed in stock to reduce recoil
2. HK21 butt pad installed on stock
3. Larger charging handle installed

Going to to get a PTR91GI next payday, put on a Bill Springfield modified A3 stock and make it my truck gun.
